Subject: Interesting
This is a quirky movie that plays on a few stereotypes of the time, but is enough to keep you interested.

Subject: Very good 'B'
A well-made 'B'. I love that Art Deco apartment!

Subject: Not bad
Pretty good standard 30's mystery. Edward Van Sloan from Tod Browning's Dracula puts in a fairly good performance, in fact most the performances aren't that bad.

I would like to add however that the ending is atrocious.

Subject: A Very WASP-y Murder Mystery
Well, it's not too boring.

I downloaded the 512Kb MPEG4 file. Video and audio are OK.

Subject: A real cowboy
Seeing Mr. Starrett reminded me of my childhood in the 1930's when almost every Saturday afternoon my older brother and I went to the "Nickel Thriller" at the local Roxie theater in Princeton, Indiana. Mr. Starrett was one of my favorites and that's right, the movie cost only five cents to get in and five cents for a Pepsi and another five cents for a bag of popcorn. It was great fun.

This actor was a great "cowboy" actor of the Gene Autry and Roy Rogers genre---only better. I don't know why he didn't make it big time because as you can see in this movie, he was a good actor and quite handsome.

I thought that this movie was great, but perhaps it is only my nostalgia. Considering the times and the technology available at the time, I rate this a big five star.

Subject: Another underrated film
This is a fun little romp on a college campus. The two main characters are pretty funny as they exchange jibes while trying to outdo each other in trying to solve the murders first. The usual bumbling police detective. Lots of usual unusual denizens of a college campus to see as well. Well worth a watch. Try it and see.

Subject: It's murder
Chestefield Films in 1934. Reporter Bill Bartlett (Charles Starrett) wants to get to the bottom of things when three murders are committed at college. Bartett's sweetheart (Shirley Grey) is implicated, he works twice as hard.
